All levels and ages. Children 12+ with Adult Supervision This workshop will teach you the basic safety and techniques to begin your journey with pyrography. The woodburning tool will feel cumbersome at first, but the lesson at the first half of the workshop will help you understand the different ways to utilize factors like angles, speed, and pressure to get the desired effect with the tool. After some practice, in the second half of the class you will create a piece of art on a beautiful piece of bass wood. You will take home the woodburning tool provided to continue your pyrography journey. Goals: -Learn how to safely operate pyrography tools -Practice the many ways to use the tool for different techniques -Be in a creative environment with people working on a common goal -Create a piece of pyrography art to take home with you. Materials Provided: -Beginner's woodburning tool, which you will take home with you -Practice Panel -Final artwork Panel, Bark Edge (7x12in) -Carbon transfer paper for transferring your image onto the wood Student Provides: -A printed image to transfer onto the wood, the final panel is 7x12in wide so if you use a standard 8.5x11 sheet of printer paper, be sure to size your image to fit within the dimensions -Gardening/work gloves (if you’re concerned about possible burns) -Pencil or Pen Bring a snack or beverage if you wish.
